Short Commentaries by Al on the Book of DanielReturn to the Index of Short Commentaries |
Daniel 5:3 - “Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them.” There are those even today who are bold to mock the things of God, as if the Invisible is non-existent. God does not punish immediately, nor speak directly to each one, but He has recorded past events to illustrate His judgment of our events. That night the king died and his kingdom was overthrown by a foreign invader. Then there are those who believe in their hearts that they are honoring God, but who still are abusing the things of God (His word and His church). Those who believe that God doesn’t mean every word of the Bible - or that they can re-envision the church for their own time and place - are sitting in the seat of Belshazzar. They are weighed in the balances, and found wanting. The Bible is the instruction Book for proper use of the body and mind. If you don’t follow it, you won’t have a successful life. |
