Short Commentaries by Al on the Book of II John

Return to the Index of Short Commentaries

II John 1:6 – “And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.”

Often we all can fall into the trap of getting caught up in the daily routine, and adjusting our course according to changing circumstances. Unfortunately, in doing so, we all too often lose sight of the beginning. We forget why we are doing what we are doing - or even forget altogether what it is we’re supposed to be doing. When that describes our spiritual conduct we are in serious trouble. It is always good to look back to the beginning - the knowledge of God and the understanding of our need for His mercy - and reset our purpose and fervor. How long has it been since you walked through a whole day remembering the love of God... and telling someone else about it?
